Saint Luke’s Orthodox Association for Health Care

Saint Luke’s Orthodox Association for Health Care in cooperation with the Near East Council of Churches held a day for free medical care at the camp of Talbieh for refuges. Around twenty doctors and pharmacists volunteered in this event. Free medicine was distributed to about 500 patients who were discovered to be sick.
There was a lecture about swine flu (H.N.) at the clinic for the members of the assembly, by Doctor Sana Nafaa’ from the World Health Organization and presented by Doctor Amin Al Sunaa’, a consultant surgeon from the Ministry of Health and the chairman and secretary general of the committee of infection control in the Governorate of Al Balqa’. More than 50 people attended, and asked questions concerning the flu.

The association celebrated together its patron St. Luke at the Church of the Presentation of the Lord/Sweifieh, where His Eminence the Archbishop Venedictos led the Holy Mass, accompanied by the Reverend Fathers and the choir. A large number of assembly members and doctors attended the ceremony where the president of the association Iconomos Bajes Khoury gave a lecture about the conduct of the clinic and he thanked all supporters and contributors to the success of the work of medical clinics, and after that was a simple reception and then a tour of the clinic to see the medical equipment available.

Note: the clinics are open at exactly nine o'clock in the morning and continue in service until seven o'clock in the evening and those who attend are mentioned in the following table:
